Friends of Our Lady of Pompeii,
I write to you on the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel. For almost four decades, the Prince of the Heavenly Host has stood guard over the little chapel as patron in Jacksonville where we celebrated his Feast for the last time.
The scaffolding is down and the building feels like a church again. Give yourself a tour by clicking here or viewing our new live cam. The restorative aspect of the project concludes. In two short months, this will no longer be a construction zone.
Fr . Beck will bless the church on December 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. Afterwards, all Masses, Sacraments, and devotions will be transferred from the small chapel to the new church. Please start planning accordingly.
Above: Fr. Beck gets his eyes on the project. His first look at the stone carving above the doors.
Below: The dancefloor is down and painting the lower half can resume. While it might look a little overwhelming, this puzzle (the altar) is coming together fast.
The gentleman who installed the altars at the Immaculata arrived in Jacksonville last week and has begun the erection of our marble high altar, two side altars, and communion rail. St. Joseph's altar is almost complete, and Our Lady's is well on its way!
I can't wait to share with you what next month has in store!
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle,

Fr. David Thomas

This month’s mailbag comes from the new Prior of St. Thomas More after his visit. Big news! He gives us a wonderful charge which would be an honor. In his own words...
Dear Father,
Dear Faithful,
You have a very impressive church. Seeing it in person allows me to appreciate the magnitude of the project and the sacrifices made along the way. While much physical work still needs to be done, know that on opening day, the true supernatural work can begin as you bring the Blessed Sacrament to a new part of town.
I am asking for a bishop to come to Florida for Confirmations next year, and I would like Our Lady of Pompeii to host the ceremony. You have my continued support and prayers.
God bless you,
Fr. Gerard Beck
Fr. Beck and I on the dancefloor where I show him recast plaster molds of the capitals and crown.
Thank you, Father. A true blessing and a sign of great confidence. We would be delighted to host Confirmations for the faithful of Florida.
I love hearing from you. If you would like to tell us how Our Lady of Pompeii has touched your life or if you have story or connection to Old Holy Rosary, please write to me at info@pompeiirising.org for a chance to be featured in next month’s mailbag.
