100th Anniversary of the Death of Old Holy Rosary Architect James Walsh

On November 12, 1924, Architect James R. Walsh passed from this world into the next, but not before leaving his mark on Catholicism in Jacksonville.

Mr. Walsh designed Old Holy Rosary in 1922, oversaw construction in 1923, and watched his building of stone and wood become a House of God during its consecration in January of 2024. All of this before succumbing to a chronic illness and being laid to rest St. Mary's Cemetery, just 1 mile North of Old Holy Rosary.

Please pray for the repose of his soul, and that more young people follow his example in creating new churches for our Catholic Faith that are fit and just for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

With a debt of gratitude, thank you, Mr. Walsh, for our beautiful church!
